One of the most challenging projects in my professional career was the McKinsey carbon abatement cost curve, an analytical tool that has been used to influence policy at the international and national level. We were tasked with answering the question - what are the cheapest ways to reduce carbon emissions, before taking taxes and subsidies into account? It was meant to give policymakers a quantitative tool on which to develop their carbon-reduction strategies.

I led the research team analyzing residential and commercial buildings. The full report is still available for download from the McKinsey & Company website, and this article reflects on the impact of our work.

In addition, I was one of the main authors of research advocating for increased international funding for malaria eradication, which was widely covered in news outlets such as The Economist and the Financial Times.
